PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO OUR ANNUAL CHRISTMAS APPEAL

Dear Parishioners & Friends,

In this Advent season of hope, we have focused on our support for our immigrant brothers and sisters. We always look forward to Christmas because for a brief period of time we feel the joy of humanity. This season, however, comes on the heels of so much grief and violence in our midst. Yet, the Little Infant reminds us of how his simple birth reawakened the force for good that we can harvest in our world. Let us dedicate ourselves to such a noble goal.

It is also a time for our parish to achieve, once again, some financial support to cover needed repairs and improvements. We have installed a new sound system in the school and plan to restore the old altars at OLG. At St. Joseph, we had to repair the boiler and do exterior work on the church as well as install a new roof on the rectory.

Your donation at Christmas will cover these unexpected expenses. We have a total goal for both churches of $59,000. We hope each family will consider a donation of $150 or more. We hold the collection open until January 11, 2026. We will print a list of donors $150 or more in February unless you ask us to omit your name.

Christmas is more than just our collection. It’s about the spirit of love that Jesus ushers into the world, which badly needs it. Our country needs it. And so do we. Let us pray that one Silent Night will inspire us to sing all year long with peace, love, joy and justice.

I pray for you every day and hope you find warmth and community in the oldest Catholic churches in Hoboken on the eve of our 175th Anniversary. A blessed Christmas and Happy New Year.

Love,

Fr. Alexander M. Santora, Pastor & Dean
