Welcome to the Music Ministries at OLG and St. Joseph!
Musical Director
Our Musical Director, Kathleen McNally, came to the Parish in August 2016. Kathleen oversees OLG's historic grand organ (Wirsching, 1909). She also directs the OLG Adult Choir and the OLG Children's Choir.
Kathleen earned her A.B. in Music from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia and her M.A. from New Jersey City University. Over the last 40 years, she has been the Music Director of St. Henry in Bayonne, Most Holy Name in Garfield, Sacred Heart in Bloomfield and Our Lady of the Assumption in Bayonne. She has directed choirs performing in English, Italian and Spanish and has always had a children's choir.
The OLG Adult Choir
The OLG Adult Choir is comprised of dedicated, hard-working parishioners, accompanied by our wonderful 1909 Wirsching grand organ (a New Jersey and Hoboken treasure!). We always welcome more singers of all voice parts. Both Kathleen and the current members extend a warm invitation for your participation. The choir meets one night a week to practice and generally performs at 10:30 AM Sunday Mass from September to June. Choral singing is one of the most rewarding activities for its camaraderie, synergy, and elevated form of prayer. We hope that you will consider being part of this very vital ministry.
The OLG Children's Choir
Young voices singing has long been a tradition of great churches. The OLG Children's Choir exposes young singers to different types of sacred music. The choir meets one afternoon a week to practice and generally performs at 10:30 AM Sunday Mass from September to June. The children often provide special music for communion and especially for feast days of the church. We generally welcome children ages six and above as it is important to be able to read the lyrics. Choir is a wonderful opportunity for young people to learn the rewards music can provide, as it fills young souls with joy and minds with knowledge.
The Spanish Music Ministries
There are vibrant Spanish music ministries at each of the OLG 1:30 PM Sunday Mass and the St. Joseph 10 AM Sunday Mass. We encourage you to share your talents by reaching out to their leaders before or after Mass. New members are always welcome.
The OLG Young Adult Ensemble
The Young Adult Ensemble serves the OLG 7:30 PM Sunday Mass with an upbeat, contemporary sound. We encourage you to share your talents by reaching out to their leaders before or after Mass. New members are always welcome.
